Week 221

Hi there, it's Sarah here stepping in on a practice run to see if
I can hold the fort whilst Chrissie and Anne jet off in a few weeks!

First of all thanks for all your wonderful entries from last week
you certainly know how to go up, up and away.

So what's in store for this week ...

It's Recipe Week
and we would like you to include
a TAG on your project

We can't wait to see what you come up with.
Each week we're stunned by your inspirational makes
and just want to see more.

As always please remember to keep it Clean and Simple
with lots of yummy 'white space'

Here are our examples and as ever you'll find more
inspiration on our personal blogs

We have a little surprise for you this week... we have a

Guest Designer

joining us for a few weeks, as some of us will be going away on holiday
here and there, so the troops are having a little reinforcement.
We are delighted to welcome

Anita
Neet & Crafty

Anita is known to so many of you as she has been a faithful LIMette
for quite some time and her work is totally stunning!
So do give her a huge welcome too!

Materials/Method:

Clearly Besotted - Tag Along, Leafy Accents
Uniko Studio - Beautiful Blooms II
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Hemptique Twine - Vintage collection

Flower stamped and heat embossed in white on vellum, fussy cut and coloured on the reverse with white Inktense pencil.  Leaves die cut from vellum.  Notches cut in edges of kraft panel to keep twine in position.  Tag and sentiment heat embossed in white and cut with co-ordinating die.  Layered up and vellum bloom adhered using silicone glue.  Gems for finishing touch.

Chrissie
This looks like a remnant from the splatter week... although I did just make this card.
The butterfly is from Indigo Blu, inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and then
the edges of the stamp were inked by rolling a little Mermaid Lagoon ink onto them.
I like the mix of these two colours. The splats are from Paper Artsy and Stampin' Up.
The diecuts are from Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is from Penny Black.

This adorable set (Lawn Fawn: Gleeful Gardens)
was one of my sneaky purchases at the NEC

Card Recipe:
Clearly Besotted: Rounded Tag
Uniko Studio: A Gift for You sentiment
Mama Elephant: Stitched Landscape Trio dies
Images coloured with Stabilo pens and glossy accents for added dimension

Memory Box die with a Mama Elephant sentiment added and a
punched star, all cut into a circle tag with a Simon Says Stamp stitched die.

We hope you enjoy this one!
We're looking forward to visiting you!
Don't forget everyone likes a comment so please try
to share some encouragement amongst your fellow entrants

ShowCASe week 219

It seems that the once dreaded One Layer Card no longer strikes terror into the hearts of cardmakers these days and we were delighted with the lovely submissions for our Splatter Challenge.
With out further ado, here are our choices
Week 219
SHOWCASE
Amazing simplicity, fabulous splats!

Great masking on this lovely splattery background.

stampin-up-uk-independent-stampin-up demonstrator-Tracy-May-one-layer-card
Great masking, sumptuous splattering and LOTS of white space!

It seems that a few entries had evidence that the creators were having such fun splattering that not a lot of white space was left. Of course our choices this week reflect the uncluttered style synonymous with the CAS genre!
Wonderful work ladies, please take the ShowCASe badge from the page at the top to display on your blogs and everyone do join us tomorrow for another fun challenge!

Oops!

We are guilty of a big
OOPS!
In the excitement of all the celebrations for our 4th Birthday back in February, we omitted to post the winner of our January prize sponsored by the fabulous Tara at
She generously donated a £15 prize as well as sending two sets of stamps for the birthday giveaway.
We are most grateful Tara and apologise profusely for our omission!
Now for our Prize winner.
It's
Bits and Pieces
Bobby is a loyal contributor to our challenges and takes time to comment on fellow crafter's submissions. So Bobby we'll be sending you the code to redeem at Tara's store.

If anyone else has not yet visited Make the Day Special, I do urge you to do so. The range of products seems to increase  by the day and Tara's service is second to none!
SO Thank you Tara and Congratulations Bobby!

Week 220 Theme

Here's a theme to conjure up a pretty picture
Up, up and away!
For this one you can think balloons, planes, other things that fly and things that can be carried along on the breeze.
Let your imagination take flight!
Here are our samples

I think this SU balloon works really well with the panda from Unity.  I've added a bit of bling with gold embossing, mat and sequins.

Here is the second line of the song... Up, Up and Away.... in my beautiful balloon!
This Woodware set is perfect for paper piecing, which is just what I have done here with some Cuddly Buddly papers.

Card Recipe:
Uniko Studio: Birthday Bash
WOW: Metallic Copper Sparkle EP - new favourite!
Clearly Besotted: Sunburst -sentiment
MFT Die-Namics: Fishtail Flags and Blueprints 15

As ever, there is more to see on our personal blogs and we love to see you there!
We are so grateful for your continued support and we extend a big welcome to our still growing number of followers  on Google and Bloglovin.

Week 218 ShowCASe

It's difficult to come up with new things to say about how fabulous our
ShowCASe
is each week, so in order to reduce the risk of  tautology, I'll just say here are our wonderful choices for
Week 218 Predominantly BLACK
...and what a bumper lot of entries we had to choose from!
What a wonderful watercolour creation!

Lots of wonderful white space and such crisp stamping.

Simple and elegant!

A fabulous sentiment, superbly created.

It says it all!

With so many superb entries this week we had to add a few more to our tally of Showcase choices, what a feast for the eyes they are too!
All of them stick to our Guidelines; uncluttered, with clean lines and white space (or in this case for some, black space!)
Thank you every one.
Ladies please take the ShowCASe badge from the page at the top to put on your blogs with our congratulations and thanks!
Tomorrow you'll find a new challenge here, so do pop back, we'd love to see you!

One Layer Splatters Week 219

What a bumper bundle of fabulous cards were submitted for our challenge last week, thank you to everyone for your fabulous work!
This week we're back to our
One Layer Card
and we would like you to include
Splatters
These could be applied in any way you choose, stamped, flicked, spritzed, dropped, whatever!

Here are our examples and as ever there is more inspiration to be found on our personal blogs.

Card Recipe
Uniko Studio: BRIGHT Butterflies & Simply Said - Birthday
Having hap-hazardly masked off an area of my card I've
spritzed, flicked and splattered the remaining card
with a mix of perfect pearls, water and peacock feathers distress ink
before stamping my images and adding a touch of glossy accents
to some of my circle splatters.
Aquatints splattered from a paintbrush, with Visible Image sentiment and Indigo Blu flower heads over-stamped in black.

I discovered something when making this card...that my Spritzer tool can be adapted to take larger pens by removing the centre part of the barrel...it fell out when I was removing the Copic Pen I used to spritz the lighter green for this card. That might be a useful discovery!
I over stamped this with a Paper Artsy splat stamp using Forest Moss Distress ink and then stamped the leaf and sentiment from Stampin' Up's Kinda Eclectic stamp set.

We hope you enjoy this one!
We're looking forward to visiting you!

Colour Challenge Week 218

A new month, a new challenge and a new sponsor.
We are delighted to welcome back
Clearly Besotted

as our sponsor for April and Stephanie is offering a £15 gift token as the prize.
Do check out the wonderful selection of stamps and dies in her store.
Our colour challenge this time is entitled
Predominantly Black!
Your whole card doesn't have to be all black and you may use a little of another colour, but whatever you add to your design, even if it's minimal, should be mainly black.
So think silhouettes, monochrome, ombre, chalkboard technique... there doesn't have to be a lot of black... if your design is minimal, it just needs to be the predominant colour.
We have some examples here for you as usual, but there is additional inspiration on each of our personal blogs. Click on our names to take you there, we're sure you won't be disappointed!

Chrissie
Here is a Memory Box keyboard die with part of a Spellbinders tag, I thought it looked rather like the music stand on a piano.
The sentiment is from Penny Black.
Sarah

Here I've added a mini touch of pink with some Papermania gems
Card Recipe:
Altenew: Hennah Elements (first outing and I love this set!)
Clearly Besotted: Happy Birthday set (sentiment) heat embossed in
Hero Arts White Embossing Powder.

Unity sentiment stamp white embossed and aiming for the chalkboard effect.  Memory Box butterfly diecut and some gems added.  I had intended to leave this card completely black and white but I much prefer it with the Distress Inked background to the butterfly.

We know that this is a real challenge, but we're sure you'll come up with some fabulous designs... we can't wait to see them!
Go for it girls (and guys)!
